| New Friend | Pickett Brass Hey, I was thinking about getting the Pickett Brass trim kit for my trumpet. I'm hoping the heavier valve caps will give me a darker sound (because my Bach 72* is just a little bright ) I was just wondering how the heavier weight would affect my trumpet, especially since I have the lightweight bell? Would it be something that you think would be a good idea, or would I be better off spending my money on something else? Thanks guys! _________________

| Pianissimo User | Hey Chris, I've looked into Pickett Brass stuff and it looks pretty good. I haven't tried their stuff but I have tried heavy caps on my Strad and they made a little bit of a difference. It was noticable let's put it that way. IMHO I would try a heavier mouthpiece. Are you using a standard Bach Mouthpiece??? If you are I would try a megatone one or another heavier weight one. I have a megatone and I love the sound I get out of my 43. It's good stuff... hope that helps.
