Regular 7C or Yamaha 11B4?

I have a Yamaha 11B4 and a Regular 7C (not bach) and I am wondering which one is better or are they the same. They are not the ones I use but i'm just wondering.

Which one do you prefer? I use a Yamaha 14B4, Bach 3C, Marc. E14 and a JetTone LMCX, depending on what I'm playing, and I chose them all because of comfort, ease of playing, and they just worked for me.

Re: Regular 7C or Yamaha 11B4?

Garrett,
which mouthpiece to use is like asking what lips to kiss. In the beginning, you take what you can get. Later, you learn the difference and make a decision for yourself. I got lucky and didn't have to kiss around too much before finding the right lips. The same happened with my mouthpiece............

Re: Regular 7C or Yamaha 11B4?

Hello Garrett. If you like the Yamaha #11 Rim size, according to the Yamaha comparision charts. The 11C4 has the deeper C cup like a Bach C cup,so the 11C4 Yamaha size would sound more like, or hopefully, better than a Bach 7C m.p. I recently bought the smaller rim sizes of the Yamaha short shank m.p.'s. Very impressed with the quality, intonation, rims feel really good. There is a Yamaha E-Bayer M.P. seller, that is offering the best prices with shipping on New Yammie m.p.'s. I plan to try a 9C4 Trumpet and 9C4 Cornet long shank m.p's. Compares to a Bach 7C with a tighter rim, sounds good to me. Take time to study the lip types to rim size on the Stork Mouthpiece site. The worst thing is getting into a mouthpiece safari, been there done that, big waste of money and practice time. Good luck

Re: Regular 7C or Yamaha 11B4?

I'm a bit late on this thread but for what it's worth I find the 11B4 a much more versatile and comfortable mouthpiece. Good tone, good high range, can even be used as a lead mouthpiece. A good all rounder and one of the best for beginners. I would recommend it to anybody who plays a C cup but wants a bit more edge and a brighter sound. Incidently, I play on smaller shallower pieces but I still consider the 11B4 an excellent mouthpiece.

My sentiments exactly. For outdoors jobs and marching band, where extended playing at high dynamics and good projection are the order of the day, this piece really does a terrific job. The rim is truly "play all day" comfortable. I use one with my Super Collegiate trumpet and it's an ideal match.
