![]() | Re: Which Silencer for trumpet practice at home It may not be quiet enough for your needs (or neighbors), but there are a couple of things I use: 1. Humes & Berg cup mute with Joral Cup mute felts/pads 2. EZ bucket mute 3. Tom Crown Practice Mute 4. Brass Spa practice mute In addition to the mutes, I might put a towel or crown royal bag over the mute/bell. Or, point my bell in a clothes-filled closet. I generally prefer things that silence the sound AFTER the bell rather than IN the bell. None are perfect solutions. Sometimes using ear plugs while using these mutes help to keep from overblowing. | Piano User | Re: Which Silencer for trumpet practice at home The two best methods I've ever found (and yes, I used to own a Silent Brass system) were: - a practice mute (or harmon mute) - practice facing into a closet full of clothes (even better if you live in a warm climate and have the windows shut and an air conditioner on bigtiny |
