Thumbs up

I second Ed's 3M Tarni-Shield. Finally truth in advertising, on the bottle it says:
"Lustrous, Long Lasting Shine. Anti-Tarnish Protection from the makers of Scotchgard Protection"

Great product!

Eclipsehornplayer is on a distinguished road
I couldn't find the Tarnishield locally so I went with Wright's anti-tarnish Silver Polish. Works great.....

John P has a spectacular aura about
Hagerty's silver polish. It's really gentle, won't scratch the finish.

Cool thanks everyone, I've added the Tarnishield to my christmas list, along with the Dr. Beat DB30 metronome, Korg CA-30 chromatic tuner, and a new trumpet case. Year of the trumpet for me

Bourbon City has a spectacular aura about
I second, third or seventh (what ever it is) the 3M Tarni shield. Shop Kroeger, they sell it.

Another one that I think is just a little better but more expensive is AMWAY's silver polish. A little goes a long way. It's about eight bucks a bottle, but the bottle will last years.

my 3 cents

Re: Silver polish

Question: Does that silver polish or tarnish replace the wear and tear of the silver or just make it shiny?

Re: Silver polish

Scratches, whether from the edge of your music stand, the ring on your finger, or the dirt in the cloth you use to buff it up... are still scratches. Tarnishield (and the others) will remove the oxidation (discolouration) and leave a protective coating behind. The horn WILL look a lot better but not like the day it was "born".

HOWEVER... some scuffs and other evidence of use should be worn proudly... it means your horn isn't a "case queen" and you are actually PLAYING it. They don't affect the sound and can't be seen from the audience.

To your other question... there have been several posts in the past about cleaning your horn (keeping the slides "bright and shiny", valves, etc). Here's a starter http://www.musichem.com/articles/trm...r_students.htm .
