| Piano User | Solotone and Bucket mutes Howdy all, I've been swamped with musicals recently and I've been bummin my buddie's solotone and bucket mutes, so I figured with my new found income it's only natural that I get the right tools for the gig, so what do you guys recommend I get for a Solotone and a Bucket mute? Any info is appreciated, thanks!

![]() | Re: Solotone and Bucket mutes I use the Humes & Berg ones (and their cup also). Classic sound.

![]() | Re: Solotone and Bucket mutes Humes and Berg for the Solotone. If I were buying a bucket mute today I would get one of the Jo-Ral ones, a lot easier to manipulate then the clips

![]() | Re: Solotone and Bucket mutes H&B all the way. The JoRal bucket might be easier to use, but I am not the greatest fan of the sound, especially if you are aiming to blend with someone using an H&B. |

![]() | Re: Solotone and Bucket mutes Anyone got any suggestions for quick mute change using the H&B bucket?... I would recommend the Eazy bucket mute. This solves the quick mute change problem, as it just slides on and off the bell of the horn. http://www.horntrader.com/Merchant2/...egory_Code=M93 I agree on the H&B solotone...however, I have an old Shastock solotone that actually plays pretty well in tune. It is not quite as bright or "woody" sounding as a H&B..but definately works well.

As for the finish, surgical tape, (the skinny white tape, get the coated kind) can be applied to the clips. This will protect the finish of your bell. I also believe the Stone Lined, H & B bucket comes in two sizes. I personally do not care for the sound of the Easy Bucket either. A little hollow sounding to me. (just my opinion) -cw-

I'm having more trouble with getting the bucket on. Perhaps I just need more practice... -Jimi
