| Pianissimo User | Spivak Whispa Mute Anyone know where I can get one? I've been trying to buy one from various websites for the past 6 months and every single one has it listed as "on back order"...what the heck is going on? Is this mute no longer being made or what? Scott |

![]() | Whispa Mute Most of the mail order houses still carry them as far as I know. Please check the trumpet gearhead website by Jim Donaldson for my comparison / contrast chart and comments about many different brands of practice mutes including the Spivak. I have a couple of new ones that recently came in that are not yet on the chart (e-brass and John Wallace brands) Good luck... Bill Dishman Gainesville, Florida |

| Pianissimo User | Mute for Fetes? Here are the sites I've tried that list the Spivak Mute as either "out of stock", or simply don't carry it at all. Out of Stock: Woodwind/Brasswind Hickey's Musician's Friend Doesn't carry it: Dillons Giardnelli I actually don't want the mute for a "practice mute". I use the Yamaha Silent Brass for that. I want it as an alternative for the Fetes excerpt. I haven't found a suitable mute for Fetes (I'm currently experimenting with a Harmon Mute stuffed with a cloth)...but I tried this mute once (and liked it), and it was reccommended to me by Gary Bordner. The only "lead" I got on the status of this mute, was from the Musician's Friend website that says they expect the mute to be in from the manufacturer "around Dec. 1st, 2006." Who knows how accurate that is...like I said before, I have literally been trying to buy this mute for 6 months (placed my first unsuccessful order back in March). Does anyone have any definitive info on this mute? Scott P.S. Jim Donaldson's Gearhead site is very interesting. The comparison chart was a nice "review" system of various practice mute. The link to that direct page is here. |
