Sturdy Music Stand The music stand I have now does not hold some of my books. I need a music stand that will fold up that I can take places and will also be sturdy enough to hold my Arban's book, for example, comfortably. What do I need? Thanks in Advance!

Re: Sturdy Music Stand I really like my PEAK Music Stand, got it from Pick Music. Very strong and portable. Trumpet Store select PiCK Accessories then PEAK Music Stand.

And I can put my Arban's 6 languages edition (the book is 2 inches thick). :) Edit: actually, it looks more like this one: Hamilton KB90 Traveler II Portable Symphonic Music Stand and Bag - LOW PRICES at WWBW 45$ Last edited by brem : 03-25-2008 at 03:06 PM. |

Re: Sturdy Music Stand Yes, The K & M heavy duty stand is the way to go. It folds to a very portable dimension, and has a carry case smaller than the hamilton traveler: http://www.wwbw.com/Konig-and-Meyer-...-i111618.music

Re: Sturdy Music Stand My vote goes to the Manhasset Voyager. Buy the carrying case and you can carry your music inside with the stand.

Re: Sturdy Music Stand My vote goes to Desca. You can find their website here. At $100, it's probably the most expensive stand you'll find, but worth every penny (to me at least)! It folds up to be very small and easily portable, has an extra-wide desk with a solid back that you can write on. Has a nice little shelf for putting valve oil, pencils, tuners, etc in. Can go lower and higher than the standard manhasset orchestra stands. The only disadvantage is that it's kinda heavy, you'll want to get the shoulder strap for carrying it around. However, I like the heaviness - I wanted a folding stand I could use outside without having to worry about it blowing over or anything. It's nice and sturdy, so this isn't really a problem at all. For $100, you can get a folding stand that's much better than a regular stand in every way! I've only had mine for about a year, so I can't comment on how well stand the test of time, but so far so good with no problems whatsoever It's great for me, since I usually keep it in my room for practicing so I need it to be able to hold books (it can easily hold any books you want to throw at it), but it has to be able to fold up for transporting. It really does get pretty small, but it's still a wee bit too big to fit in a backpack... Which is kind of a drag, but it's worth the extra hassle over one of the more portable (and flimsier) stands. I dunno, I just love my Desca stand so much that I wrote this whole post about it! It's twice as expensive as most other stands, but IMO it's by far the best you can buy if you're looking for a sturdy folding stand that's capable of doing everything a normal stand can do (and more!). I can't stand wire stands :-p

Re: Sturdy Music Stand I would have to suggest the Peak Music stand for traveling. For around $30 you get a full size stand that is very portable and very durable. I've had mine for about a month now, and without fail, people have always come up and wanted to see it when I'm out on a gig. The usual questions are 1) what kind of stand is it?, 2) can you show me how to fold it up and how it fits in its bag?, and last but not least 3) where did you get it and how much was it? Good luck in your search for a stand, it's always fun to get stuff in the mail!
