![]() | Thick Valve oil for an old horn Hey guys, I have been having some trouble with leakage in my 1969 Selmer Radial 2. I finally did a test in the tub, and found out that my valves leak a LOT of air. Naturally, of course, seeing as how this horn has never had a rebuild in its 40 years of life. I'm quite amazed that these problems only recently started to occur. However, the leak has gotten to the point where it is simply unacceptable. I can hardly stand playing the trumpet, which is too bad, because it is my favorite in the world. Since I can't afford a valve rebuild now, I'm gonna do my best to find a solution in thick valve oil. Does anyone have a recommendation? I have BiNaK Pro, which is good stuff, but I need probably the thickest I can get. I prefer synthetic, since they tend to keep the horn cleaner and not seize up much, but I'm not emotionally attached to it. Got any ideas to help out? Thanks a lot.
