Trumcor Brass Bottom Straight

Hey

I sort of need a new straight mute since i lost my old Humes and Berg stone lined mute. But i shall be needing a step up i think cos i've been asked if i would like to play quiet city with our school orchestra which i am completly stoked bout. My teacher said i should get the Vacchiano straight but i've been reading bout the trumcor brass bottom ones but my teacher hasn't played one. So i was wondering whats the advantages between the trumcor brass bottom and the vacchiano ?

but back to your original question, every mute has a different color and sound whether it is a vacchiano, a trumcorp, brass bottom, copper bottom, you should own a wide variety of mutes especially for orchestra playing. i would suggest investing in both that way you can choose how you want to sound for quiet city or any other piece you play

Dave Mickley is on a distinguished road
The vach. mute is a standard in most high schools so maybe your
director wants the section to sound the same. check with him first
and see if that is the reason. Dave
