Trumpet and flugelhorn case

I bought a kanstul flugelhorn recently and was disappointed to discover that it does not fit too well in my double case which is built for a flugelhorn and a trumpet. I believe this is because the bell on my flugelhorn is slightly bigger than the bell on many models. Any suggestions on a case that could better accomodate my larger bell flugelhorn and my trumpet would be appriciated. I also like my cases to have a pocket on there for music. I have a mute bag for my mouthpieces and accesories.
Thanks for any suggestions!

Re: Trumpet and flugelhorn case

The Kanstul and Conn Vintage One flugelhorns are very large, not just the bell but the way they are wrapped. Hold out for the third Coyote lid (sometime this fall). I am designing it especially around these two flugels. If I do it right, it will hold tpt/big flugel/computer or tpt/big flugel/pic.

The current Coyote lids hold either tpt/tpt/pic (Snip lid), tpt/tpt/pic/computer (Snap lid) or tpt/flugel/pic (also the Snap lid). I'm tweaking the Snap lid to hold more than just the very small Couesnon flugels, but the big guns will have to wait for the Snarl lid.

Re: Trumpet and flugelhorn case

I have a Pro Tec Mike Vax double case, which I use
for my Taylor Chicago Bb and (big!) Conn Vintage1 flugel.

Works well after I took out one of the pads inside.

Check my ad in the classified.....

Pro tek trumpet/flugel combo case.

I used it for my Eclipse flugelhorn, and I also had a Courtois flugel in it, the one with the BIG bell.

Re: Trumpet and flugelhorn case

Hi,
Don't forget to factor in weight.
I use a Protec Trumpet/Flugel Combo also - but it does weigh a ton.

The other day I got back from a gig and threw it on the scales for a laugh - it was tipping the scales at 8.5KG - that's around 18-19 pounds for my American friends.

That was with 1x Flugel, 1x Trumpet, 6 mouthpieces , 2 spyder stands and some music, 2x mutes and smaller accessories like oil etc.

You might want to consider wheels if you are going fully loaded and long distances.
That Mike Vax case looks pretty well designed and handy.

Re: Trumpet and flugelhorn case

I have a wolfpac that works well, and the bell on my Marcinkiewicz flugel is extra large- close to trombone size. Much more compact than the protec ( I have one of those, too- came with the flugel)and easier for a short person like me to get off the ground :)
