| Hi, I am looking to buy a good mouthpiece for my trumpet. I cannot afford a new mouthpiece, and so I am looking for a high quality second hand mouthpiece. I would prefer a Jerome Callet mouthpiece if possible. Where would I be able to get such a mouth piece for a reasonable price? Thanks for your help? |

| Fortissimo User | Re: Wanted: High Quality Mouthpiece try looking on the classifieds, horntrader.com, dillonmusic.com, mouthpieceexpress.com, ebay. Also, try to find some that you can play on before you buy it, even if that means going to a music store and trying a new one and telling them it not for you, even if it is the one you want. (I do this with horns all the time, but money isn't my forte right now so a new horn is outa the question) |

| Fortissimo User | Re: Wanted: High Quality Mouthpiece Honestly, I don't know. I am not familiar with many mouthpieces, especially not Curry. If you have played on your instructors mouthpiece and liked it, find out what the specs on it are and try similar mouthpieces from other companies, or try and find one used. That is how I found my current mouthpiece. I wanted something that gave me a slightly deeper and fuller tone than my Blessing 3C, my instructor had me try a few mouthpieces, including a Laskey (67?) and a Wick 3C the laskey didnt even fit my receiver, it would hit the main lead pipe tubing, the Wick 3C fit perfectly, and it sounded much better in combination with my horn than the Blessing. I ordered a new on in Gold Plate for christmas and couldn't ask for anything better (except a Monette B4L, but I don't have that much spare change to spend) |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Wanted: High Quality Mouthpiece John, we can't pick a mouthpiece any easier than picking a wife for you. There is no moral issue about simply trying a bunch of mouthpieces out and buying the one that YOU think is best. Any brand name mouthpiece is "high" quality regardless if it is Bach, Schilke, Curry, Monette, Callet, Olds,............................. That quality only means something if YOU fit it. Go for it and let us know what YOU decide! |
