World's Coolest Practice Chair!

Man, I could not wait to get home from rehearsal tonight to tell you about the coolest thing that happened to me today. I have a friend (my assistant's husband) who gave me a GIFT of what is perhaps the world's greatest practice chair: Vecta|Wilkhahn Stitz

It is called the Wilkhahn Stitz stool.

It looks very simple but it really is an amazing piece of enginering. You can sit in a half standing/half sitting position and play VERY comfortably with total movement. The base allows you to move around and the thing never falls over (like those blow up punching clowns we had as kids with the weighted bottoms). The pole is a pneumatic piston and goes up and down on a cushion of air. There is a lever under the seat that allows it to adjust up and down. When you sit/lean on it, it is like a soft shock absorber for your bottom! The base is rubber filled with silicon sand which keeps it stuck to the floor at extreme angles.

This thing is so cool and perfect for long practice sessions. It allows proper support and breath control like standing but takes the weight off your feet. Just thought someone might find this interesting?

Finish Well,
Dan

Re: World's Coolest Practice Chair!

Hey Dan,
did you have it cryoed?(just kidding).
I have been using an ergonomic chair for many years. You sit up naturally straight - without having to think about it. Looks like you will be doing the same! Congratulations!

Wouldn't you want to put the flat end on the floor?

Re: World's Coolest Practice Chair!

Cool Chair isn't it? I just ordered the unicycle wheel that comes as an option. Now I can practice and when I'm done, ride to the gig all without ever having to get off the seat!

Re: World's Coolest Practice Chair!

Ok, It's my day off and I am having some fun practicing in the new chair. I'm hoping that "stitz" trumpet playing can be included as an event in this year's X Games, ha.
