Question YELL AT eBay

All right all you trumpet geeks, I need your help.

I have yelled at eBay for years about getting more subcategories for selling/buying trumpet stuff to no avail.

I always look here first, but often I find my self, and you probably do this too, searching page after page of "stuff" because the categories are limited to horns and then parts/accessories.

So when you want to look just for a mouthpiece you have to page through all the mutes and cases and music and cd's and what ever else is there.

So... I figured if I get the word out to my other trumpet "friends" and we ALL yell at eBay to subdivide the parts into mouthpieces, cases, mutes and other it would happen because the "public" has spoken.

Please help!!!

Admirable, but it will never happen. Too many sub-catagories can lead to more confusion on where to find specific items. With 88 Gazillion categories and sub-categories to search on Ebay already, there is little to no chance of Ebay adding even more areas. Plus there are buyers and sellers that don't want to sub-categorize everything. There are those sellers who would say, I want my items listed together to give me more exposure, and buyers who would say, I don't want to search through 19 different areas just to see all of the trumpet related items.

If that isn't enough, this is the BIG reason why it will never happen.
All one has to do is modify your search. You can even save these searches (Favorite searches) so one doesn't have to go through all the trouble of creating a custom search everytime. With advanced search functions such as * , and - , there is no reason to wade through all of the unwanted items. Just make the search relevant to what you want. You already have the tools necessary to do what you want. All you have to do is learn how to use them fully.

Exactly right, I have a search saved with the keywords Mouthpiece, Trumpet in the category of Brass. It works fairly well at limiting the amount of other stuff, usually only 5 or 6 non mouthpeice items.

Re: YELL AT eBay

Yelling at anybody does not generally get the desired response (not even my daughter......).

eBay needs to realize a specific advantage to themselves or the mass market customers. They have TONS of research in this area, so what suits you may be unique to a small group of interested people. That would prevent them from taking action. Believe me, they know what it takes to keep money flowing..........

Re: YELL AT eBay

You the add a - to a specific name. Such as -tristar, -selman, ...

You can save these long and very specific searches. Here is one of mine that I keep in my favorite searches. It eliminates tons of B.S.

bundy -al -peggy -kelly -bud -ted -married -tv -bundaberg
-wrestling (search is for All catagories.)

This search is saved and allows me to search Bundy and pull up everything on Ebay that is Bundy related minus al,peggy, bud ...

All you have to do is type in MPC under catagory musical instruments . Add -tristar, -selman, -india, -whatever...
until you find that you have weeded out all of the BS. Then save that search under favorite searches. Next time, you go to my Ebay, click on favorite searches and then the specific custom search that you want. No need to go through another drawn out and lenghty search, it's already there for you to access. These custom searches take some trial and error, but once you have them figured out, they are simple to access and use.
