![]() | 007 songs Folks, I just had a best of 007 type CD playing and I was curious: What are your two favorite James Bond main title songs by male and female artists? For me, "The Spy Who Loved Me" with Carly Simon is a great paean to James Bond and everything that's so damned fun about his movies. The lyrics are perfect and the delivery is well done by Carly. "Goldfinger" comes a very close second. Shirley Bassey was incredible. The ultimate James Bond song, however, is "Thunderball". The Welsh should have made this guy a national hero, Tom Jones. His high Bb at the end is a stunning finish for a great song. The cool thing about the song is that you really are left up in the air as to whether the song is about the villain, Emilio Largo, or 007. The text applies to both. All right, those are my votes from the old fart pool. What say you? ML |

| Fortissimo User | Tom Jones can sing...no doubt about it. Unfortunately every time I hear his singing, a mental image of him on stage pops into my mind and spoils it for me. Always loved Shirley Bassey (she ranks right up there with Cleo Laine for ladies with voices AND class). I'll go with Goldfinger for vocals on this one. No second prizes awarded. Casino Royale (yeah, I know it's a spoof) is a wonderful tune though. Sorry, went off topic. mea culpa. |

There is no contest for my favourite - the ending of On Her Majesty's Secret Service (probably the most under-rated of all the Bond films), Louis Armstrong singing We Have All the Time in the World as Bond holds his dead wife in his arms, I get a tear in my eye every time I watch this film. | |
