$2.35 a gallon!

I'm not complaining...but we're paying $2.35.9 a gallon in north east suburban Detroit.

It is $2.91 - $3.25 out here (Los Angeles)

Cheap stuff is $2.79 in Milwaukee.

$2.49 in Minneapolis. Wisconsin has a higher gas tax than Minnesota.

Just did the maths - we're paying about $4 US and up per gallon in melbourne, Australia.

2.59 a little north of Boston. It's about 2.80 in town.

At current exchange rates, $3.24 per US Gallon here ($4.06 per Imp. gal).

Here's the thing... anybody notice how the prices can suddenly (over a one or two week period) drop by 20% "just because" the storms in the gulf (so far, anyway) didn't turn into hurricanes? Anybody want to argue against the point that fuel prices are driven more by speculation at the brokerage/trader level than physical events?

Edit: Oh yeah... that pipeline from the North Slope is still rotted out and supply rates across Alaska are still down... yet the price still managed to drop.
