Talking Best aerobic activity for trumpeters

For a guy like me who's finally getting in shape again (yippee!) I'm wondering what everyone out there likes to do.

My favorite is the Elliptical machine as it's non-impact. Getting up to an hour by the end of the month.

It does help my septuple C, but that note's above human hearing I think ;)

Best,

T

I think swimming is probably one of the best things for you. But its a pain in the ass. Especially when you are not in school and you no longer have the campus pool near by.

Red face

We have a recumbant stationary bike. It gives you a moderate workout similar to a treadmill, but only if you get on it and pedal.

Good old fashioned running does it for me. I started it at the beginning of the summer and it's done wonderful things for my playing, especially in the endurance department.

Smile exercise

I use the stationary bike and the treadmill, usually five days a week. If the weather is good I sometimes walk. It is a real chore for me, but totally necessary after heart attack and triple by-pass. Sort of like long tones!

Exercise

I started doing the Fit For Life program - well, kind of! :) I'm working out 6 days a week. lifting 3 day and cardio 3 days. It just has to become part of your lifestyle (that's what I keep telling myself anyway)! I keep thinking though that the time I spend and the gym I could be practicing!

I'm finding the time at the gym to actually help my playing just as much as practicing FWIW! My endurance has increased since doing my cardio work!

Charlie Vernon seconds swimming.

I am a sub teacher and apartment dweller on the third floor. as a result my exercise bike is a drying rack. (sounds like a pachadyrm parade to the downstairs neighbors) and no money to join a health club, my form has been walking around the nature center. a few times a week.

Wink

I get enough exercise leaping to conclusions and running people down.

<That was meant as a joke>

To tell the truth I managed to lose 10 lb while in Europe...I attribute that to a) the exercise involved in a LOT of walking, much of it with a small daypack
b) the improved diet (German food seems to involve a lot less volume of a lot higher energy-content food)
c) the higher humidity as compared with the relative desert we live in here...we sweat like hogs in Europe. The only times I was really comfortable was while up on a mountainside somewhere. *Note* this is not a Euro phenomenon but related to atmospheric humidity... the same thing I experience when going to Ontario, Kentucky, or wherever the relative humidity is higher than about 40%!
d) a reduction in the amount of liquids consumed. (I love water and milk... both seemingly not "normal" beverages in Europe... unless you count mineral water which I HATE... or bottled water which I can't justify paying for when used to the "free" water from the kitchen tap). Even the increase in beer consumption (who could go to Germany and not drink beer?) to compensate for the lack of other drinks wasn't sufficient to hold back the weight loss.

Down to 205 from 220 two months ago and loving it.

A regular bike, riding by the lake in the mornings, about 45 minutes a day. Done wonders for my endurance and blood pressure, not to mention weight. We'll see what happens in the winter.

I get no respect. My mother got morning sickness after I was born.
