| Forte User | Re: Big Money..What would you do... In this order: 1. Hire THE best financial advisor I can find. 2. Hire THE best lawyer I could find. 3. Pay off all bills. 4. Buy a new house, large enough for each kid to have his/her own room, with practice facilities for the whole family (we all play something). 5. Invest in 4 long term accounts for our children. 6. Share some with immediate family. 7. Get on the phone to Dave Monette and Leigh McKinney and order a full set of horns from each of them. 9. Go to work the next day.

![]() | Re: Big Money..What would you do... Call me the eternal pessimist, but as an educator I would not go to work. You alone w/students? 1 on 1 in an office giving a lesson? You teach members of the opposite gender? LAWSUIT Because if you win the lottery you have the most important component of a lawsuit. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ My .02

![]() | Re: Big Money..What would you do... I would take the first million or so and set myself up for my old age. I would then set my daughter up for life. I'd put a couple million in a fund for my wife. Then I'd build a new school in my community. They are raising money for that now. I'd pay off all debt of my church. I'd pay off all the debt of all my family members. I'd set-up a trust at the school shere I teach for the music department making certain we have great equipment and also a complete staff of teachers. We already have a nice building so we are well on the way to a great program. to be continued later...

![]() | Re: Big Money..What would you do... 1. Stop working. 2. Bribe Ford to give me and friends a tour of the silica mines beneath the St. Paul Ford plant. I guess you can sneak in, but I’d rather be legal (in this case). 3. Invest in some mountain gear. 4. Take a tour of Machu Picchu. 5. Train for and climb Everest, attempting Whitney, Rainier and Kilimanjaro in the process. 6. Rest for a few months. 7. Buy a few Chrysler PT Cruisers and drive them like rental cars. You know, redline the engine constantly, destroy the e-brake, burn off the tires, etc. Oh, and don’t forget driving them across a plowed field. 8. Tour the country for a year. 9. Buy a cabin on Lake Superior. 10. Open a bakery. 11. Tour all the Civil War battlefields. 12. Buy a lifetime supply of Sachertorte. (In weekly shipments, of course.) 13. Install a giant gold perma-keg in the house. 14. Build new house before installing gold perma-keg.

There would most definitely be a Clarence-esque party (I want to meet alll of you, especially those I haven't met before) - not just the players though - I would want everyone there - makers, players, performers, teachers and especially students. If money was no object anymore, I would take music go the masses. I come across a vast number of students who have never heard live music. Introducing them to the amazing talent that is represented here on TM would be an amazing experience. I would also like to get them playing. One of the worst parts of my teaching life is when you see potential in students and they are unable to realise that potential because of personal financial issues. If they could have free lessons and a free decent instrument (as opposed to the trumpet shaped objects that many of them acquire) then I know that they could do something special with their lives. There would be all the personal stuff as well, but it would be nice to put a bunch of it into the community and bring quality brass music and teaching to those that can't afford it. | |

![]() | Re: Big Money..What would you do... Quit my day job and dedicate my time to building the finest trumpets available anywhere. I would hire and colaborate with the greatest trumpet designers in the world to produce:
Then, I would enjoy watching the 'cheapo Asian junk' companies and 'overblown American mega-companies' go under trying to compete with the millions I would put into research, development and advertising. Oh, and throw a monster party once a year for my TM buddies in Hawaii! Greg
