As a cyclist in my 50's, I didn't find that funny at all. My thoughts are:

1. I hope no one got hurt and will live the rest of their life in pain and discomfort due to some stupid prank. We didn't see all the folks probably that fell in.

My wife and I were out on a 25-mile ride, spring before last, when two dogs raced out in front of her. Cyclists have cleats on the bottom of their bike shoes that lock your feet to the petals so you can lift as well as push with your feet.

When the dog (a full grown male German Shepherd) collided with my wife's front wheel, the bike stopped instantly . . . while she went staight over the handlebars with her attached bike following her. She hit the asphalt on the TOP of her helmet.

Yeah, she "only" broke one rib and "only" messed up the tendons in her right wrist. Her right hand will NEVER be right again . . . and we have an ordinance against dogs being on the loose in the county. The owner is a deputy sheriff too.

Sorry about the rant . . . but some people have no idea how their stupid actions affect others.

MY SECOND THOUGHT . . .

2. I hope no one had an expensive bike ruined and damaged. Good road bikes begin at about $1,000 and can cost many times more. Plus, all those folks had hundreds of dollars of clothes ruined.

I don't think folks should do things like this that can hurt innocent people.

HOW WOULD US TRUMPETERS FEEL IF SOMEONE DID THAT TO A ROAD THAT A MARCHING BAND WOULD MARCH ON . . . AND YOU LOST YOUR DREAM HORN AND ALL YOUR TEETH . . . AS YOU FELL IN A HOLE . . . just so someone could have a "laugh?"

FOOD FOR THOUGHT!

Tom

Same here Tom. As a cyclist (and actually "human") I didn't find it funny. Even with a Mt Bike, you can see how it would cause damage.

And ditto on the cleats...

I hope they get sued up the you know what...

I can just imagine someone with a bad heart out doing a walk and... bam...

I felt bad for the dogs too...

MJ, I know, the "human" thing was a little over the top...

It's just that I can still feel some of my pains from the many, many falls I've taken both road and Mt. Biking...

And most of those "holes" were put there by Mother Nature....
