Good article. The thing we need to point out is that the reason we are losing manufacturing jobs is the huge tax burden and immense legal and environmental requirements the US government puts on US employers. There is just no way to compete with countries who do not have the same requirements.

Try running a business in Ca. Everyone gets your $ before you, many times there is nothing left. Add to that competition that runs with "illegal components" while you are trying to run a legal concern.....very frustrating

That's the truth. Many businesses fold because the liabilities that are incurred with growth cut profit margins, if any, down to the point where it's not worth staying in business. Many smaller size companies decide to simply cap their volume rather than grow into larger companies with more requirements put on them.
