![]() | Well, pi is an infinite decimal, so there are an infinite number of places following 3. This guy recited 100,000 places from memory, taking him 16 hours. If you're sitting in one place talking for 16 hours, you need a few breaks!

![]() | he recited this number from memory: http://www.geom.uiuc.edu/~huberty/ma...pe/digits.html I'm assuming thats the right number of digits-didnt count them! There are no patterns that would allowhim to figure it out on the spot. He used many memory tricks im sure- for example, one that allowed me to (without trying) memorise pi to about 30 decimal places (it was part of a school presentation): Associate each digit of pi (0-9) with a scale degree- 9 would 2 above the octave, and i imagine 0 could be 3 above the octave. Make a song out of it, using some kind of rhythm. |

![]() | Wow. If I ever get depressed thinking about how much of my life I've spent working on getting (or trying to get) music out of a piece of pipe, I'll just think about this guy and how much time he wasted doing this. "Somtimes you have to compare." (Ingemar -- from the film My Life as a Dog).
