To all those folk who served as civilians as well... I visited the old gunnery school where my father worked during WWII. He once rigged a cam onto a jeep wheel so as to provide a bobbing target, but didn't drive the jeep himself. Thanks, Dad!

I agree with those sentiments on behalf of everyone who served or serves, be it military or civilian. My dad played sax and clarinet in a prominent Army revue from 43-45 called Stars and Gripes, which also starred a young Don Knotts and Mickey Shaunessy, a fleet boxing champ. They played on many islands and ships to entertain thousands of troops.The V mail my mom kept are invaluable to put a personal aspect to the service and my recent contact with the son of another band member.
