Thanks for the ray of sunshine Toots.

.....as a sensitive soul, I find it difficult to feel uplifted as long as the blood continues to spill over this war and the United States continues to crack in half politically. Even as I read these positive news stories, there is an ever-looming veil of sadness filtering out some of the light. The news is appreciated though. You are right. It is nice to have a place to go where you can read good news if you want it.

Ya... I've been watching US politics for some time now and I think it's a shame you don't have more of a multi-party system down that-a-ways. Then there would be something for "middle of the roaders" to at least consider. Probably much too late for that though (although there seems to be enough sentiment in that direction that it might just take one small shove to get it started).

In Canada I'm considered a Liberal (I can never forget how the military...which I grew up in...was emasculated by the Diefenbaker conservatives) ... but I have some strong conservative tendencies (such as the death penalty for 1st degree murder). But in Canada I'm actually "middle of the road" since our Liberals are "out-lefted" by the real socialists, the "New Democratic Party". Then there are the Greens (don't ask), the Separatists (a P.C. word for "traitors"), and the usual fringe group "nutcases". It tends to make for a different (but no less interesting) election from yours.

Oh well, that's more politics than I usually want to talk about in public forums (I'm a believer in leaving politics, religion and the weather...a pc phrase for "global warming"...constrained to "the smallest room in the house" and not trotted out where it might be embarrassing).

My hats off to you Toots... well said.

I share in your sadness Alex. I'm also made very sad when hearing any news from the war. Especially this time of the year...

I am TOTALLY with you on that Toots. (but I do thank you for sharing some of your Canadian insight)

Hey Rogerio, looks like we are on the same wavelength. It really hits this time of year.

Ok Toots, back to your ray of sunshine. I didn't mean to be a little black rain cloud.

actually in the last election i voted for a third party candidate. i intend to do so more, even if they dont win, if enough people do that who knows?...

the election system here in the us is rigged against third parties from even having a chance. with all the hoops they have to jump through to get on the ballot, not being able to get into debates, media exposure and time.

i am really tired of having to choose between idiot and stupid, in our elections.

what really pushed me over the edge, was the playground bullying on the part of one candidate and the getting away from the party platform on the other candidate. and that neither really addressed the issues, they just attacked each other, and really had no ideas or even a clue

maybe hillary as presidential candidate will be what pushes people to the third parties

Here's another "good news" program that I've recently discovered on the "Arts and Entertainment" channel. It is called "Random 1" in which two guys (who have been at this 'gig' for about 9 years now) go around trying to make a difference in the lives of folks who have "run out of rope". It is NOT a "made for TV Reality Show", having gained the attention of the network only this past year. I sincerely hope they can keep it that way (ie, un"produced", raw, and REAL).

Check out their archive at http://www.random1.com . They do have reruns of past stories available through the website.

Toots,

You know I watched some of that the other day and it was refreshingly good. There is no free lunch. They honestly try to get people back on their feet so that THEY, the individual can support themselves. Give the man a fishing pole not free fish type of approach.

Keep 'em coming...

God knows we need some good news... everyday.
