Earthquake

Who all of you enjoyed the earthquake in Illinois last night?

It occured at 4:36 am CDT. The media says it was a 5.4 Richter.

Re: Earthquake

I had it! My dog woke me up.. she's such a wimp. My metal stand-alone shelves was shaking, my ceiling fan/light was shaking, the door was rattling on the hinges, and I think my bed was vibrating. It felt good on my back As soon as it was over I passed out and in the morning I thought it was a dream, until I got to school.

Re: Earthquake

Al Gore blamed the earth quake on Global warming.
Here is how it works.
We had record rain in Missouri and northern Illinois in March due to global warming.
The rain saturated the soil and recharged the ground water.
It took two plus weeks for the ground water to percolate into the fault.
The water lubricated the fault and we had an earthquake caused by global warming.

Al Gore is a Nobel Prize winning scientist so he must be right.

Hopefully this doesn't go against the whole no politics thing, but since Al Gore got the Nobel Prize, I no longer can trust the people who give them out. Besides, the legal term is no Global Climate Change, not Global Warming. If it is global warming, what explains some of the record colds that certain parts of the world have experienced this past winter?
I honestly think that it is just that the magnetic polls are shifting, that or the sun is getting warmer, it is a star after all and thats what they do, get hotter before they die out. Sure emissions and all that blah-dee-blah have a bad effect, but I don't think it's as bad as some people make it out to be.

Re: Earthquake

I'm with you Nplotts. That is why I wrote such an absurd tiatribe.

I think we can discuss earthquakes and global warming climate change down here at the bottom of the forums.

I wouldn't call that all the time but it does point out they occur in this area. California and Alaska have what I would call all the time. We had a 4.2 about 1986-87 so about every 10-20 years.

Re: Earthquake

Hi,

Being a morning person, I was sitting in my easy chair with my laptop on my lap when the earthquake tremor occurred. I can truly say that "the earth moved under my feet, or realistically under my seat."

Best wishes,

Lloyd
