This evening's concert

Here I am. In my suit, all sweated up and stuff, and floating on clouds. Our 4-8 concert went very well. Much better than I had anticipated this afternoon. Rehearsal with the 7-8 group was really tough slugging. Kids were simply not in the mindset to rehearse at all. Now that I look back, it makes sense that they were thinking about tonight, not the moment at hand. Nonetheless, it was tough and I was really, genuinely, worried for the first time in a long time. But they always pull it together when the curtain opens. I was so proud of all of them tonight for how much the put it together. It was nor perfect, to be sure (is there ever a "perfect" performance? That could be an interesting topic of discussion in itself).

One more to go this week; then the strains of Pomp and Circumstance and Coronation March will once again fill the bandroom and its surrounding vacinity. Life is good.

"Good on ya".... AND on them. Hope most of them return next year. You'll have them really cooking then.
