| Forte User | I always thought that it was interesting how when the subject came up, Alexander Hague was always mentioned as the most likely candidate for that, although I recently saw a thing that speculated that George Bush 41 might have been Deep Throat too. Just a Fed. Just a disgruntled Fed who thought he got passed over for a promotion, who then decided to topple a President.

![]() | Not entirely, Patrick. This also was a top-level law enforcement officer who watched the executive branch actively block the investigation of a felony. When the extent of the political pressure made it clear that the investigation would never proceed, Felt gave two rookie reporters hints on where to look so that they could further the investigation. |

| Forte User | Point taken...although the fact that he got passed over as the FBI top dog probably didn't exaclty make him feel like he should cover for Nixon, the guy who could have annointed him as director of the FBI.
