| Fortissimo User | Exciting Year Our group, the Lethbridge Community Band Society, celebrated it's 10th anniversary with Allen Vizzutti as guest soloist, back in 1997. In May of 2007 (Mother's Day weekend) we'll be having our 20th anniversary... and have managed to snag Jens Lindeman for the festivities. I can't wait! (Well, I CAN...because I have no other choice!) In the past we've been fortunate enough to have workshops and concerts with The Foothills Brass (a professional brass quintet out of Calgary), The Mantini Sisters (a professional vocal trio from Ontario who do a kind of "flashback" concert based on the 50's and 60's), Dr. John Griffiths (reknown tubist from Saskatchewan), and James Walker, top studio and recording flautist from LA (of the movies "Titanic" and "War of the Worlds" soundtracks... amongst many others). The upcoming year is going to be a very exciting year for our band since we have been invited to be the demonstration band for the Alberta Music Association's annual conference in October and we've also been asked to perform our "Western theme" music "Good Music, Good Medicine" at the Charlie Russell Museum in Great Falls, Montana some time in early summer of 2007. Right now we're cranking up some new music for our July 1 Canada Day concert as well as another local community's "Settler's Days". Fun, fun, fun! |
