Yes, she should have been punished for that, a litle bit, but I think 5 days suspension is a bit far. How about instead we suspend the kids that smoke or drink on campus, or the idiot who lit a gas leak in the locker room on fire, or maybe the kid that punched a security guard the other day. (none of those last kids got suspended by the way...) |

And to think a whole generation would sing... Jingle Bells Shotgun shells Teachers on the run Oh what fun It is to shoot Your teacher with a gun. At least when I was growing up. -cw-

Oh, good grief! For THIS they kick kids out of school? We sang parody songs ALL THE TIME when I was a kid. We weren't stupid enough to sing them in class, even quietly but, Sister Mary Francis, give me a break! Mine eyes have seen the glory of the burning of the school We have murdered all the teachers and we've broken every rule We have killed off all the principals that ever ran the school And their teeth came marching out! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Teacher hit me with a ruler! I bopped her on the bean with a Russian submarine And her teeth came marching out! On June 30th, the last day of school in New York we'd sing "No more pencils, no more books, No more teachers dirty looks!" Good grief... have we truly become so penny wise and pound foolish that we punish for creative silliness that means nothing. Nothing! It's a far cry from the sorts of things that actually do lead to violence like direct threats or witnessed statments. ML

Yeah, I think the school is being pretty stupid. The little girls song is one I knew about thirty years ago. Along with: Glory, glory hallelujah Teacher hit me with a ruler Hid behind the door with a loaded .44 Now teacher don't teach no more! Or.... (to the tune of 'Four Leaf Clover' I'm looking over, my dead dog Rover, He's scattered all over the lawn... three legs are mangled, the other ones gone.... etc. :) On top of 'ol Smokey All covered with snot I shot my poor teacher while he sat on the pot... (I'll stop there as it really goes downhill from there!) See! Some of us have been doing this for awhile and we've turned out fairly normal!! Bill

I live around the corner from P'tree Ridge. What really gets me is the bastion of "Public Education" poo-poos homeschooling, yet look at the alternative... Paul Poovey
