Great Trumpeter/Veteran Story

Imagine flying a fighter plane in WWII, and carrying a trumpet everywhere with you as your primary tie to home and your stress relief... What a great story - click on the video as well which is better than the text...

Re: Great Trumpeter/Veteran Story

I don't understand why my 1946 Conn looks like it went through a war, while his actually DID (in a canvas bag!) and looks better! I think the bell was replaced; it looks too shiny and there's no engraving.

That was just a wonderful story. I especially liked that Louis Armstrong quote..
Quote:
'Always play the melody, man. Look at them, see their age group, play their love songs, and you'll carry all the money to the bank.'

Re: Great Trumpeter/Veteran Story

Age does bring a certain amount of clarity into ones thinking:

My ambition as the last action on my part as a veteran is to hit high C and fall right into the grave. What a way to go!"

All of you players with range problems: notice no double C? This guy has CLASS!
