| Mezzo Forte User | Gun Enthu needed... Hello folks, Bit of a weird question for you tonite. I own a Berretta 390L 12 ga. shotgun, semiauto... (ok, all you traditionalists, I know, I know you like the pumps.) This weekend I'll be attending a get together with some friends to have a little clay competition. We all want to take 5 clays without reloading. So the obvious question is, does anyone know how to take out the plug in my particular weapon. I can field strip it but I never go all the way to the plug. Alas, my owners manual has been long gone for years and I am not technically savvy enough to pull up schematics online. Thank you for your time. Peace. Tim P.S> I know to some this is considered "illegal". Let it be known that one of the friends attending with us is the SGT of the local SWAT and we will be at a police range.

![]() | Re: Gun Enthu needed... MAKE SURE IT IS COMPLETELY UNLOADED!!!! Usually you would unscrew the magazine cap from the front of the fore end. Remove the fore end and barrel. Look into the front end of the magazine tube and see if there is a compression clip holding the magazine spring and plug inside the magazine tube. Carefully release the retainer clip as it is under tension from the spring under it. Once the clip is removed, the spring and plug should come out. Simply put the spring back in under tension and reinsert the retaining clip leaving the plug out. Put barrel, fore end, and screw cap back on the magazine and tighten the cap securely. It's only illegeal to hunt migratory birds without a plug.

| Mezzo Forte User | Re: Gun Enthu needed... Thank you Phatlips... I will doublecheck that but the reason that I asked is that it did not comforn to the standard setup. But I was tired when I tried the first time (45 - 50 hour work weeks on top of full time gradschool). Thank you for the quick response. Keep blowin', Tim

![]() ![]() | Re: Gun Enthu needed... Right it is. I owe 40cal some digitals of my XD-45. I like my 30 carbine, too. I belong to a pretty nice rifle club. Bench Rest Rifle Club near Wright City, Missouri. We have just about any shooting range you would need.

![]() | Re: Gun Enthu needed... Yep, Lots of trumpet players seem to also love to shoot guns. It is amazing just how many of us love blastin' away with a horn or a gun. You are in great company here! Me? I'm into handgun competitions, reloading and handgun hunting. The only scattergun I own is a '69 Ithaca Model 37 pump slug gun that "kills at both ends." |

![]() | Re: Gun Enthu needed... Tom, Can you explain why you didn't do as well with the Golden Sabre vs. the other two that you have in the picture? That stood out as I looked at the target results. Not that I would have come within a city block of the targets but since you have so much experience I have to assume it was the equipment. Are all three from the same day of shooting or different days? My curiosity has been piqued! ML |
