![]() | OK, so who's good old all-American hot rod, and who's import tuner? I'm in the hot rod school, currently driving a '99 Mustang GT, 4.6 ohc V8, 5 speed trans., a little souped up for now, maybe more later. I've also owned a '69 Chevelle with a 307 (not too hot) and a '64 LeMans with a 326 H.O. motor (very hot) in the past. How about the rest of you?

![]() | I had an 89 Camaro RS (6-cylinder) and then a 94 Camaro Z-28 (5.7 / 350). I went from 170 hp in the 89 to 275 hp in the 94 (6 speed manual)! Man I enjoyed those cars! Chuck, My 89 Camaro was the first year to have the start inhibit “pellet” in the ignition key. It was a really cool design that kept my car from being stolen 5 TIMES. This tiny little chip had a different resistance than the rest of the key, and when the steering column was broken and they tried to hot wire my car, they could never get it started because this “pellet” wasn’t there to complete the circuit! I knew a guy at the time that would open up the music building at ASU at 6:30 AM, and I would always practice before I went to work. He only knew me as the guy that practiced early in the morning. One day he rode up in the elevator with me and told me about how his girlfriend’s car had been broken into and the steering column had been broken, and the car couldn’t be started. I described to him in detail how to take a screwdriver and pull the sawtooth slider up towards the steering wheel to “complete the circuit”. He met me the next day and told me that it work like a charm (just like I had described). I’m sure he thought that I was a car thief! Just out of curiosity, how many times was your 87 broken into? I remember that, at the time, it was the most stolen car in the nation! If you never had it broken into, you were lucky!

![]() | I'm not an either/or guy, I like all the great ones. My first car was a 72 LeMans with a 400 4BL, fairly quick. Of course, my current car, a stock 06 Acura RSX would bury any 60's (stock) muscle car at the first turn. The handling is so incredible - I've taken tight 2 lane country roads, the 35 mph variety, at 70 mph with no noticable sliding or understeer. The thing just hangs on like crazy! Now, if I had the cash I'd get myself a 67 GTO body, take it to Chip Foose and tell him to make if drive like a new vette, money no object. That would be my dream car. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Derek, The Z-28 has never been broken into. My father-in-law was a very high up at GM. He was the Tech Center liason to the Mansfield OH plant. That meant he left MI on Monday AM, went down to Ohio and came back Friday afternoon. He won the first ever 20K award for suggestions at GM. They made a commercial about it and he was so popular, and funny, they let him star in it. With his German accent he was like Dr. Z is now. Anyway, he took the money and had them build a new Z-28 with a 5.7 in it just for him. You could not get that in a Z-28 in '87 unless you bought an I.R.O.C. camaro. The car was for his wife! She drove it to bowling twice a week. When they moved to Colorado in 1991, they had the car shipped out there. There she drove it to bowling...once a week! We got it 2 years ago with 52,000 miles!. See the picture below, from the last time it was back in CO. ![]() ![]() MENDEZ! WOW!! That is a sweet T-Bird!!
