Question How do 'you' collect the gems that are found here daily?

Hi everyone,

I have a problem. I'm on the cusp of beginning trumpet again after roughly 27 years off. That being the reality, I plan to seek out the best instructor in town, and begin as though I had never even set eyes on the trumpet before. Empty teacup, and all that

Because of this my daily routine here on TrumpetMaster entails cruising about willie-nillie scavenging for gems. Problem is, there are too many to remember, and too many threads to are rich on content that it wouldn't suffice to scratch down a quick quote on my pad here.

So the question is - how does everyone deal with this issue of 'collecting' single quotes, or entire threads that they can easily access later as a reference library? (Something a beginner could really benefit from as time when on) It's so easy to read something wonderful, and then leave it to read another thread only to find that 1 post in 80 on a particular thread seems a needle in a haystack the next day.

Do you print hard copy? Create a new bookmark folder, and deposit threads? Do you have a quick way to bookmark a single post, that isn't technically tedious? I'm all about long, technical approaches, but if we can keep this simple then more folks would be able to develop their own similar methodolgy. So..how do you all go about saving your gems

I look forward to hearing from you,

Joe

A TM bookmark folder is a good idea.

You can bookmark an entire thread or you can bookmark a single post.

To bookmark a single post, right click on the # on the top right of
the actual post and bookmark the link. (Yellow line).

You can of course then save the actual bookmarks with your own title
to be able to find it later.

Ok, d'uh - I may have found the easiest way to hone in on a particular 'post' within a thread for later recall...

  1. Add a new bookmark folder named TrumpMaster Gems, or something.
  2. Visit a thread that has a great post you'd like to mark for later.
  3. Look at the far right/upper corner of that particular 'post' for a number. ex. #6
  4. Click on that number. That will re-sort what is in front of you on the screen so that post is at the very top of your view. It will ALSO change the URL at the top of your browser.
  5. BOOKMARK the page now, and you will be NOT ONLY bookmarking the particular thread you are in BUT also the exact POST within the thread.

This should allow you to accumulate a fat pile of bookmarks within the TrumpetMaster Gems folder for later perusal.

Cheers,

Joe

Opps I was busy laying that same thought down to see you had already come up with it!

Awesome, thanks!

And I like the 'renaming' idea as well because often on sites the bookmarks, no matter where on the site, seem to have the same bland, generic label - which doesn't help later on when you're searching.

I have a word document with links that I might need town the line, all sorted by subject. The website also has a built-in search function that is very handy.
