| Mezzo Piano User | I hate the Fair... The stupid carnie at the fair pulled me into his litle game today. It looked so easy! After about 9 dollars worth of attempts I gave up and he gave me a litle stuffed animal that I could have bought for like, two dollars. And then I went on a ride that looked like a tilt-a-whirl kinda thing but I didn't see it before I got on it. Turns out it goes way up in the air, spins around, flips you upside down, spins you some more and then goes up and down real fast with some more flips and spins... Ah, it was awful, cuz I got sick... and now my girlfriend thinks I'm a wussy cuz I get sick on carnival rides, not to mention the fact that I could win her the big stuffed animal and I just got a litle one out of pitty... I do have to admit, the pig race was pretty cool though. Even though I lost 5 dollars betting on pigs with the guy sitting next to me...

| Forte User | Carnival games are designed with the idea that you will lose, and even if you do "win", the Carnival still makes a boat load of money because of how inexpensive those "prizes" are. You turned into the kind of mark carnies look for - someone who will lose, yet continue to throw money at it anyway for whatever reason - either you have a belief that you might actually win, or you are bound to be a hero for your girl, or whatever. Well, live and learn I suppose - you'll know the next time you see that game that it's rigged to lose.

![]() ![]() | Remember Navin Johnson..... A part of the script of "The Jerk" Carnival Rube "What'd I win?" Navin "Uh, anything in this general area right in here. Anything below the stereo and on this side of the bicentennial glasses. Anything between the ashtrays and the thimble. Anything in this three inches right in here in this area. That includes the Chiclets, but not the erasers." Carnival Rube "No sir! Come on honey! He thought he had a rube." Navin "Frosty, I'm no good at this." Frosty "Aw come on Navin, you're doing fine." Navin "I've already given away eight pencils, two hoola dolls and an ashtray and I've only taken in fifteen dollars." Frosty "Navin, you have taken in fifteen dollars and given away fifty cents worth of crap, which gives us a net profit of fourteen dollars and fifty cents." Navin "Ah! It's a profit deal! Takes the pressure off! Get your weight guessed right here! Only a buck! Actual live weight guessing! Take a chance and win some crap!" -cw-
