| Important Announcement
TM Members: We have made a decision to shut down the dedicated horns forums. After some serious thought we have come to the conclusion that the site and the trumpet makers would do better if everyone was in one forum. This decision is final. Thank You.
|

| Could you... 1. Elaborate on your thinking at least? (I'm not expecting to argue your decision; this was a little sudden and I am sure people would like to know what went down.) 2. Restore the old *content* but have the threads locked (I'm thinking in particular of the highly informative and interesting posts Larry Gianni had in the Calicchio forum that were not necessarily Calicchio-related but I would still like to be able to read through again). __________________________________________________ _________ OOPS! I see what you did - all the posts are there in one spot - I gather nothing was actually removed. I fired off the above before I looked! |

| Skip, I think the idea was, that we all were reading all of those forums anyway. This just makes it easier and opens up room for other categories. These are hard decisions to make for any Admin -- what the categories should be. Make them too specific and you only get a few posts and other categories are left out. Make them too broad and the users can't skip categories they don't really care about. Its not easy finding the balance that works. But go to most instrument boards and you will find a single category labeled "horns" or "equipment." That leaves room for other categories. I am sure it was a tough call to make -- but I can guess that with only a dozen or two posts in the various horns categories combined in a week (unless a ZeuS war broke out) that the space could better be used for other topics. We will see and the transformation begins. Jim |

It is easier in one sense. You can read all the horn comments in one category instead of jumping in and out of a bunch of them. That is easier, IMO. | |
