I'm taking a womens history course, a women's studies course, Dance, my second basic world history course, the jazz ensemble, wind symphony(only non major in the sax section)and a theory course to finish up my music minor, along with playing in the athletic and marching bands shoot me now, its *only* 25 credit hrs |

| 40Cal - I will be a happy woman if I never have to take another theory class again. Martin- WOw...that's a lot of credits! We're not allowed to go over 18 without special permission...I'm pulling a 15 credit hour workload next semester. La |

| Pianissimo User | Here the limit is 20 because we're on quarters intead of semesters so its more do-able. Some majors(like all the music majors, and architecture) you cant finish the program in 4 years without taking over 20 every quarter, so special permissions are automatically put on everyone with those majors web registration windows. Im no longer a music major, but I have that allowance still there so Im gonna use it! And whats wrong with theory? For the most part I enjoy it, even if it ridiculously complicated sometimes. I find that the thing that helps most is playing through the concepts, not only on piano but on your main axe, it helps me alot!! |

| I'm sorry, trpt 2345. I can't take it anymore. I'm in Fundamentals of music, which is supposedly the intro class to theory one - the class that non-majors take. (Since I'm not a music major, I couldn't take the one for majors.) If it's the intro to theory, I don't want to see the rest of theory. It doesn't make sense. None of it. I'm hopelessly lost...I can't wait to get the teacher evaluation because I am going to be brutally honest. Ok. I take that back. Knowing me, I'll end up taking theory I in the fall next year. I'm just fed up with that class, with the teacher, and I've never failed a class before and I"m pretty sure I'm going to end up failing this one. I'm hoping that I don't, I'm working as hard as I can so I don't, but it's looking pretty bleak. I'll be happy if I pass it with a D. Lara |

| Mezzo Forte User | You should ask your theory questions here. There are plenty of trained people here who would be willing to help. It's so important to know theory when you are playing. Learning the theory on your instrument helps as well because you already know how to play it. |

| I can identify with Lara's issue with music theory courses. Some of the time it's not the music theory that's the problem but the egg head professors that get into details that no one except a small group of elitist types would care anything about or find useful. A good, practical and useful theory and ear training course is what most people want and need. |
