Re: Jobs

I think that you and I are walking through a dream world if you want that to happen Pat. I am in the same boat as you. So few jobs out there and so many people looking for them. Hmm, sounds like the world of performance.

Apply with the cruise ship lines.
A lot of college graduates start out playing in floating dance bands.
Start with Disney.

Re: Jobs

McDonalds is always looking for people. It is not the easiest or best paying job in the world, but it is job experience and THAT looks better to future employers than blanks on your CV - especially if you show the ability to "stick with it". Like with the trumpet, there are sometimes sacrifices that we have to make.

When hiring, I look for employment record and if the candidate bounced from job to job (among other things). The employee that always finds something wrong with the employer and changes jobs frequently has developed a bad habit that I do not want to cure............

Re: Jobs

Tata you'd be welcome to busk with me - I'd probably play backing for you, the star. But you know, I've had a fascination with busking ever since I first saw it being done. I'm just weird that way.

There's an utter lack of jobs here where I am too. And my playing will just not be "there" for a long time, I need to get out with my sketch pad and get some caricaturing practice in, I've done a few and earned a few bucks, but I really need to get out there, tourist season starting in about a month and between Prescott, Sedona, and Jerome, there may be some decent bucks to be made.

Patric, have you considered doing odd jobs? Painting, yardwork, etc etc etc? Put your ad on your local Craig's List, get a cell phone so ppl can reach you, and just make yourself available. You may be weeding a yard one day and babysitting the next, but hardly anyone pays less than $10 an hour these days.
