I'm pretty new here...

I'm from Finland and I wish to tell you, that here in Finland is a very good brass-oriented happening 21-30.7.2006. Lieksa Brass happening have beed organized every year since 1979. There will be many world famous trumpetists teaching and performing there.

The trumpet teachers are this year:
Pasi Pirinen (Sibelius Academy, Helsinki)
Aki Välimäki (Tampere Philharmonic)
Franck Pulcini, France (Baden-Baden/Freiburg)
Ibrahim Maalouf, France
Mikko Pettinen "Jazz" (UMO-Finland)

It is pretty cheap to travel here to Finland from at least from Europe. If you are interested to come, for me it is a pleasure to help you with travelling in Finland and with the accommodation. The Finnish brass players do rent peoples homes in Lieksa to live in their homes these days, and that'll be very cheap... In Finland here is also a sauna in every homes.

It would be also very nice, if somebody who have visited Lieksa Brass Week, would tell his/her experiences in Finland to this thread.

I've not been there for the festival, but have friends who have. They tell me it was a fantastic week! Great music, fantastic venue, beautiful area, and friendly people.

I would love to be there, but it's the same week as our Bemidji MusiCamp.
