Medical rant! Ok, I am a little more than upset.... I was informed last month that my Albuteral inhaler would no longer be as it has always been, aerosol propelled. Two months ago the brand that was always prescribed for me was now using a pump sprayer. It just did not work. When you are having a difficulty breathing, you really need the aerosol to help send the medication into your lungs. My pharmicist found another brand, from England that was still aerosol propelled. Well, last month I was informed that the government had forbidden this medication to be sold in the aerosol dispensor. I have the new type now and it just doesn't work as well, or barely at all. All of this because of a "hole in the ozone'?????? Give me a break. I walk into my local supermarket and find hundreds of cans of hair spray and shaving cream, but an asthmatic cannot get his meds because of the ozone????? Now I am forced to augment my albuteral with steroids and the dreaded prednisone. It is just wonderful how THAT stuff puts the weight on you! Blows your face up etc. Any one know where I can score my dope in aerosol dispensors???? Ok, end of rant. Yours, truly and heavier, -cw-

![]() | Re: Medical rant! Most of my personal experience has been with, uhh, illegal drugs back in the old days, but talking to some of the people at the mission who got themselves hooked on legal drugs (those benzo's are murder, and oxycotin ain't no joke either), it seems like the internet is the way to go. With a prescription and a credit card, people could get the stuff they needed from all over the world. (Imagine the fun they had with multiple prescription and someone else's credit card! Imagine getting the fun of getting 300 Valium in the mail!) Gray area at the very best. Wanna sell your 'roids? Good luck! |

Re: Medical rant! Chuck, Is this just a Michigan thing? My albuterol is still aerosol. Remember, the environment is more important than the people it was designed for. We could all drop dead but, hey, at least the planet would be fine. From Also Sprach Zarathustra: "Oh, great star! What would you be without me to worship you?" Okay, Nietsche was talking about G-d but you get the paraphrased idea. ML

Re: Medical rant! I can't offer any suggestions about supply of your meds but In my area (west coast of Canada) we just had a couple of people die from meds ordered through the internet. Apparently, the meds weren't what they were advertised to be and the medical health officer commented that bad experiences with internet pharmacies are quite common. Good luck with your search.

Re: Medical rant! There's something strange about this, Chuck. Albuterol inhalers, powered by aerosol are still around. Either the pharmacy is at fault, or the formulary for your medical insurance has changed. Ask a different pharmacy if they can get the Albuterol inhaler and also check with your insurance to see what is on the formulary list. The other option is to go with the Albuterol solution and pick up a used nebulizer machine. I bought mine for about 25 bucks years ago and they last a looooong time. Who knows? You might like the nebulizers better!
