Mellophone..... I played with one of the older French-horn shaped Mellophones today..... I was in the music store and it was hanging in the window, the guy was talking with a lady about selling her a harmonica, and so I played around on it, DOOOOOT! Daaaaat! Deeeet!! Fun, fun. I was being silly and told the lady "You need one of these!" then turned it around and stuck my face in the bell and said Hellooooooooo..... hehe. Great fun. The guy said it's a Mellophone, a Conn. I said well, it's sure Mellow! lol. Anyway, this thing is cool. According to the scanty info I've been able to gather, it's a probably a nice classic, well-made horn, and well worth the price the guy's asking. I lack the money, needless to say, but I am very tempted......... Anyone messed around on one of these things?

Re: Mellophone..... LOL this thing is cool. I didn't look at it for the model number, if it's something like.... one of the good models good for jazz or something I'm really tempted to see if I can get it. It will get played more than certain trombones I can think of that a friend never plays..... I'll have to get a look at the number(s) on it....

Re: Mellophone..... yeah it's pretty cool, silver plated. I didn't give it a real examination I was just having fun tooting on it (and seeing if I'd get thrown out of there lol!) I guess it could not have hurt to look at the number on it so I'd know the model.

Re: Mellophone..... Maybe you could identify it from the pictures here: The Conn Loyalist About the Eb circular alto it says:" This is a very easy instrument to learn as it is unusually easy to blow and the lipping is simple." How much were they asking?

Re: Mellophone..... It's either a 4E, 6E or 8E. He wants $300 but I bet that can be bargained down..... I dunno if it has the case and all that.
