Merit Music + No Man Is An Island - promotion warning!

Well, folks, like many of you I have been working out ways to share my music and even sell a few CD’s. My prices have fluctuated in an effort to sort things out as an independent jazz artist/producer. This will be the last fluctuation. I have a cause here that means a great deal to me. If you’re interested, please read on.

I have become an ardent supporter of the Merit Music School in Chicago. This is a tuition free music school that is designed to help gifted kids in the city have a place to go and study music with some of the best artists in the Chicago area. It has been a springboard for many kids who might not have had a chance to let their light shine. Many have the opportunity to go to college on music scholarships and Merit has a big part in engineering that. If you want to find out more about Merit follow this link:

In an effort to help them, I am donating $1.00 from each sale of my CD, “No Man Is An Island,” directly to Merit as soon as the inventory has been cleared (as of now, about 750 are left).

Certainly, I have an ulterior motive. I need to move these CD’s and clear the inventory. My price is now back up to $13, including shipping and handling. However, this is about $2.00 less than commercially produced CDs so I am still trying to recognize my position as an independent.

Obviously, none of you have any way of knowing that I will actually do this thing. Fair enough. Those folks who DO know me personally know that I stand by my integrity. I might be small time, but, around Chicago, and with my circle of www trumpet friends, I have a reputation, however small. I also am 100%sincere in my support of Merit. Upon completion of this sale, I will post about the donation and I’ll even direct you to the folks at Merit who will verify the donation. This will be out in the open.

Now, many, if not most, of my friends are other musicians who are also selling CDs. I certainly do not expect each of you to come running to by my CD. You are in the same boat that I am in, and I recognize that. To those of you who are just fans of jazz and want to help some city kids, I hope this could be a way to do this.

Note: my wife and I already make small donations to Merit. I want my CD to go the way of helping, too.
