Dang it! Just a little too far from Montreal these days. Used to live on the South Shore (heck.. lived downtown for a while....). First wife was living on Cote de Niege when we met. Great pigs knuckles at the brasserie on the East side of Phillips Square (or whatever they're calling it these days).

Wish I could see that. Tell Paul that we miss him down here in Kentucky at UK, heh.

That was a great one Wilmer. Sha doomp boom!

I played racquetball with Paul when I was at Eastman and he was principal with the Rochester Philharmonic. I was also lucky enough to hear him perform the Tomasi live with them. I remember all of us in the trumpet studio being nervous for him. You could just feel it in the air. That piece is a big undertaking with an orchestra and he did a great job. It sounds like you guys are going to have a blast Ed. I wish I could hear it. Congratulations, good luck with it all and enjoy! Make sure to tell us how things are going with your baton and Paul's trumpet.

If this is the same performance, he told me that he played the whole first mvt. with his eyes closed. Is that true? He also said his sound opened up in the 2nd and 3rd mvts when his eyes were open.

Wilmer,

Consider this:

Cadenza: (smile at Paul) (don't screw up the cadence)

Tough life, eh? (said in a Canadian accent)

Cheers,
EC (in Montreal now and, yes, it's cold)

Montreal is only about 3 hours away...sounds like it's time for a field trip. Are you guys offering student/package pricing?
