Thanks for posting that! It was very enjoyable seeing the Boss and Jumbo together. What a pair of legends. Seems like MF inspired most of us when we started. For me it was Al Hirt. I think he's really a tasteful player. Don't get me wrong, I love MF and have a ton of his recordings. But in the early 60's I didn't even know who he was.

If you can find it....

you should watch the whole Cinemax Progarm. It was called Sass & Brass.

It featured Sarah Vaughn, along with Al Hirt, Maynard Ferguson, Dizzy, Chuck Mangione and Don Cherry on trumpets.

They all jams on the tunes, many without S.V.

Mangione was a very strong surprise in the jam sessions, played the tastiest solos!

I watch this video frequently!
