New electric car.

Electric Car, Electric Vehicle, ZAP, ZAP-X, Battery Technology, 100%

The range is a little short. Only 350 miles. This car uses wheel motors. I read about this technology last year. It is just what we need to make a commute to work. If there is an internal compustion engine in it for the U.S. market the fuel could be E85, gas, or biodiesel. This is perfect for an optimized E85 engine for recharging remote or while on the road as a hybrid. I am pretty sure it is only electric.

I will read the link tonight and check out the details.

It looks like the cars that those animals drove in the old Richard Scary books. I feel like there should be a worm with a feathered hat poking his head out the top of it.

I do like the look though.

Re: New electric car.

I fear when one of these little cars gets in an accident, with another little car or ANYTHING bigger, the occupants are going to die.

Re: New electric car.

I'd be afraid to drive that thing in a cross wind of any speed. One good 2MPH gust and it'd simply roll over

"With 2,000 lbs. (mostly batteries) under the floor, the Tango's static rollover threshold is equivalent to a 5-star NHTSA rating, placing it in company with the lowest slung sports cars."

"Because safety is such a concern for small cars in particular, we have designed the Tango around a roll cage that meets or exceeds both SCCA and NHRA regulations. These are racing organizations that specify cage design to protect the occupants of cars crashing at over 200 mph. In addition, the extremely high strength-to-surface area ratio of a steel roll cage allows superb visibility from within the Tango. Rollover too is a great danger for many vehicles. The Tango, being so narrow, would look to the layman's eye to be unstable. But in fact, the Tango has stability that exceeds that of most sport cars."
