Anyone catch the downhill last night? 68 MPH! Holy cow! What control and grace...I am still amazed.

bandman will become famous soon enough
Not a popular thing to say, but I'm amazed at the skaters. Those guys pick up the ladies with such ease while skating themselves. They get little credit because they make it look easy. Tomorrow try lifting a woman over your head and holding her there for 15-20 seconds. Then think about how hard it must be to do that and keep your balance on skates.

As an old competitive speedskater, I really like the long track speedskating.
They are also amazing!

As they say, "Skate fast, or play hockey!!

Watched the pairs figure skating live on Canadian TV this afternoon. Wow!

I don't remember which length race it is, but the race where there are four or five skaters at a time... that scares the heck out of me. I'm surprised there aren't more crashes, and that the crashes aren't worse than they are...

Short track speedskating.

The short track speedskating relay races have 16 skaters on the ice at one time.

Or the one where they do 15 laps and folow the pace of the leader and have to try to make a move on a circle.

Thats the one I'm thinking of. Besides having a bunch of people on the ice at one time, it looks like the skates are almost a foot long and I'm sure they're razor sharp... not a sport I'll be trying anytime soon.

Short track speedskating. Usually 6 skaters at a time.

The blades are 15-17 inches long.

And yes, razor sharp.

Say what you want about China, you have gotta admire that Chinese lady after the fall she took. I thought she'd have busted both hips AND both knees on that tumble. Then to have enough STUFF left to finish in Silver!?
