 | One year later - Thank you all. One year ago today I requested prayers from you, and many of you answered. Today I would like to thank you all. My wife, Ruth , was diagnosed with malignant melanoma May 2 of last year, and thanks be to God, she is still doing well. She is undergoing chemotherapy at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, and seeing a naturopath at Bastyr. The antibodies are attacking her eyes and affecting the vision, but other than that she is free of symptoms. The scans show some shrinkage, and the tumor is visibly smaller, so we are very grateful. The doctors are not very optimistic, long term, but we have talked with others who have had this diagnosis and are still alive and well, years later. One of them is my cousin. So , as he says, the doctors don't always know as much as they may think they do. We ask you to give Ruth a mention in your prayers. Many thanks to you all. |

| Re: One year later - Thank you all. Many thanks to you all. It's been a trying year. Ruth got cancer, I had to have a minor surgery, and the house got flooded in December. So this has been a year that could have been improved on. That's why I haven't been here much lately. But Ruth is still ok, she's getting scans today, and chemo tuesday, and we keep on plugging along. And the house repairs are about done. I play in a baroque trumpet group in Seattle, and Sunday we're playing at Trinity Episcopal Church at 2 pm. We're also releasing a CD at the same event. Best wishes to you all! |

I got to sit in with the Seattle Trumpet Consort about a year ago, playing the Vulgano part (or course) in the famous Orpheus fanfare. The ensemble consists of a large number of "Jerry's Kids" (former students of Gerald B. Webster, of which myself am one) and they attack the natural trumpet without fear and bring forth the full nobility of the instrument. They are dedicated trumpeters and good folk at the same time. Laughter prevails over ego, as life prevails over the threat of death. They are top notch musicians and top notch people. Please know, Ruth, that you are loved by people you don't even know! |
