Fitzgerald, III, Trumpet Soloist, performing Premiere, "If It Fitz" written by Dan Yoder. ******************* The Master Class by Charles Lirette, Co-Principal Trumpet of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, and from the Faculty of the Duquesne University, is now set for Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at 4:45 PM, in the Esber Recital Hall. Charles E. Lirette Charles E. Lirette graduated from Oberlin College Conservatory of Music having studied with Gene Young. He also studied with Don Tison of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and Bernard Adelstein of the Cleveland Orchestra. He has been a member of the Buffalo Philharmonic and was principal trumpet for the Jerusalem Symphony. Mr. Lirette joined the Pittsburgh Symphony as Co-Principal trumpet in 1981 and has appeared as soloist with the Pittsburgh Symphony both in subscription concerts and on the Pittsburgh Pops Series. He has performed with the Symphony's Chamber Music at Heinz Hall Series and at Hartwood Acres. He is on the Trumpet Faculty of Duquesne University and also teaches privately. ******************* The Master Class by Alan Siebert, from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, and the Dayton Philharmonic Symphony, is now set for Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, in Esber Recital Hall. Alan H. Siebert Alan Siebert, trumpet soloist and teacher, is Associate Professor of Trumpet at the College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), University of Cincinnati. Previously, he was a member of the San Diego Symphony Orchestra and Principal Trumpet with both the San Diego Opera and the San Diego Chamber Orchestras. As a soloist, Mr. Siebert has performed throughout much of the United States in a variety of settings. He has also performed and recorded as a member of Summit Brass, Carillon Brass, Kentuckiana, and the San Diego Brass Consort. A firm supporter of new American Music, he has commissioned and premiered many new works for solo trumpet and mixed brass ensembles. Hornpipes (Trumpet/Organ duo) has performed through much of the United States, and has recorded on the Integra label. In addition to his performance activities, Mr. Siebert has taught on the faculties of the University of Bridgeport, University of Wisconsin-Superior, Arizona State University and Michigan State University. He is co-author of Teaching Brass, published by McGraw-Hill, now in its second edition. A graduate of the University of Michigan and SUNY Fredonia, Mr. Siebert has recorded for Pro Arte, Discovery, New World, Summit, Klavier, Integra and Coronet. Professor Siebert is also International Trumpet Guild Board of Directors and ITG Competitions Coordinator. ******************* The Master Class by David Bilger, Principal Trumpet of the Philadelphia Orchestra, is now set for Wednesday, April 12, 2006, 4:45 PM, in Esber Recital Hall. David Bilger Hailed by the New York Times for his playing of "easy brilliance" and by the Washington Post for his "engaging legato touch" David Bilger has held the position of Principal Trumpet of the Philadelphia Orchestra since 1995. Prior to joining the orchestra, he held the same position with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. As a soloist, he has appeared with the Philadelphia Orchestra, as well as the symphonies in Dallas, Houston, Richmond, Springfield (Massachusetts), and Oakland. He was soloist with the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, Philharmonia Virtuosi of New York, and the Orchestra of the Curtis Institute. In 1998, Mr. Bilger performed the Tomasi "Trumpet Concerto" with the Philadelphia Orchestra at Carnegie Hall, and on tour in North and South America. He has performed recitals in New York, Washington, D.C., Cleveland, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and other major American cities. In February of 2003 he once again appeared as a soloist with the Philadelphia Orchestra in a series of subscription concerts with Maestro Wolfgang Sawallisch, performing Haydn's "Trumpet Concerto in Eb." In October of 2004, he performed Copland's "Quiet City" with the Philadelphia Orchestra. Mr. Bilger has appeared with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, with whom he recorded Bach's Second Brandenburg Concerto. Other chamber music appearances include Chamber Music Northwest, the New York Trumpet Ensemble, Saint Luke's Chamber Ensemble, as well as guest appearances with the Canadian Brass and the Empire Brass. He recently released a recording of new electro-acoustic music for trumpet and synthesizers with composer Meg Bowles. Mr. Bilger is currently on the music faculties The Curtis Institute of Music and Temple University, and has formerly been affiliated with Swarthmore College, Catholic University, Rice University and the University of North Texas. He has performed master classes at dozens of institutions including the Juilliard School of Music, Indiana University, University of Michigan, Manhattan School of Music, and the Peabody Conservatory. He has also taught at the Pacific Music Festival and the National Orchestral Institute. Mr. Bilger was educated at the Juilliard School of Music, and the University of Illinois.
