Conductor: Edouard Forner.

We welcome one of our own orchestra musicians as soloist in the Concerto for Trumpet in D Major by Johann Friedrich Fasch (1688-1758).

This witty piece is by a composer who has an important place in the transition from Baroque to Classic style in music.

The concert opens with the Pulcinella Suite by Igor Stravinsky’s (1882 – 1971) from the ballet of the same name based on the music by Pergolesi, orchestrated by Stravinsky (1949 revision).

Also on the concert program is a lighthearted and sparkling late work of the Russian master Dmitri Shostakovich’s (1906 -1975) Symphony No. 9, op 70, in E-Flat major.

Children are always welcomed at all of the concerts. SPCS provides the Twin Cities area with free concerts.

There is no charge. However, donations to help defray costs are welcomed at the door.
