![]() | That's a great clip! It's a funny story but it was also a good display of airmanship. Many pilots and passengers have lost their lives over things a lot less distracting than a snake in the cockpit. Things like burned out lightbulbs or doors opening in flight can get you if you forget to fly the plane. Believe it.....it happens. The best quote is "Whatever happens fly the airplane". His instructor should be proud. Bill S. (Certified Flight Instructor)

![]() | Yeah that got me too! I'm an avation freak.... I'd love to be a pilot but lack the cash to obtain a license. I too thought that quote was very important and obviously he listened to his instructor when it was said! I have a close friend who has been a private pilot for many years and has a son-in-law who flies commerically. I hear many, many stories about avaition from him that are similar to this one. This pilot did a great job and should be commended that's for sure.

![]() | Oh yeah, I've had flight sim software ever since Microsoft has offered it. I love to fly it; often. I recently obtained some military jets and have a lot of fun doing things that in the "real world" would be no-no's. Chasing down commerical traffic in an F-16 and barrel rolling around it; that type of stuff. I agree with you whole heartedly, however there is nothing like the real thing. I remember my friend took me up one time over Lake Erie back home. We were about 3 miles south of Ontario out over the lake at 6000 feet and he asked me if I was ready to try some pilot stuff. He's a trusted friend and a very competant pilot so I said, "sure!" We did some lazy "S" turns to get the G's and then did some flying that was bazzare. he slowed the plane to stall speed and then told me to look down. We were flying backwards! I guess you can do this if the wind is strong enough it was different. The most uncomfortable thing we did was a stall! That was not cool! But it gave me some interesting insight as to the mechanics of flight. He did not touch the yoke from the time we entered the stall until we started to climb out of it and the plane recovered itself. Almost makes you wonder how they crash in the first place. Of course I guess it makes a big difference when your at 6000 feet instead of 600 feet. We lost almost 1000 feet in that stall! The plane is a Cessna Cardinal and boy do I miss flying with him. The most common flight we did was the $100.00 hamburger! We'd depart Grose Isle Municipal Airport which used to be an old Navy base in WW2 and fly to Jackson Airport in Jackson, Michigan. About a 45 minute flight cross Southeast Michigan's farm lands. We'd land; have lunch at the airport dinner and then back to Grose Isle we'd go. Ahhhh those squak 1200 VFR days over Michigan!

![]() | Thought you might like to check out what some folks are doing with home flight simulators. The 737-800 project links work...some of the others don't. Unbelievable stuff! http://www.avsim.com/project757/links.html and if you want to ride along with the Blue Angels... http://alt.coxnewsweb.com/ajc/swf/bl...ngels_lite.swf

| Pianissimo User | Maybe we should set up a TM Flight Simulator online group fly. Someone could host and we could all join and fly together. There are numerous places on the internet where you can go to fly with live ATC, which is a total blast. Have any of you ever tried that? Oh yeah, I am a Flight Sim nutcase too!
