| Mezzo Piano User | Pirates of the Caribbean This movie deserves a topic. So I thought I'd make one. IMO this is the best movie of the last couple years. I was affraid that it wasn't going to live up to all the hype, but not only did it live up to it, it surpassed it in every apect of cinima-ology (if thats not a word, it should be). Anyways, I was very impressed by everything, the plot, the acting, the special effects, the witty humor, and of course the loveliness of Kiera Knightly. I think it worth the nine dollars to go see it again! So, any other opinions?

![]() | Wonderful, wonderful movie! Warning: if you plan to see it PLEASE rent the first one if you haven't already seen it or you will truly be missing out on a lot. Seriously. The music seemed more vivid to me this time around and better attached to each character. This has the makings of this generation's Star Wars by virtue of the plot and all its twists. Part of it could have used subtitles because of the thickness of certain accents. Thumbs up! ML |

![]() | Just watched the first one again last night and going to see the second tomorrow night. Already can't wait to see Keith Richards in the third installment next year.

| Piano User | I thought the character development went in an entirely different direction than in the first one, not for the good, and I thought they could've cut out some scenes, the movie seemed long, overall good, not as good as the first one I thought.

| Forte User | So how does it rate in terms of violence/shock/horror? I have a 10 (near 11) year old son who really wants to see it, but was very disturbed by the last Star Wars and Harry Potter IV.

![]() | What's not to like about it? I've not seen it yet but I'm sure it's just fine. Johnny Depp has gotton a lot of bad press over the years but he's a truly gifted actor adept at playing many challenging roles. I like anything he's in from Edward Scissorhands to From Hell to Sleepy Hollow to Pirates. Great actor; great story. In the Words of Mr. Jimmy Buffet, "Yes I am a pirate, 200 years to late. Cannons don't thunder there's nothing to plunder I'm an over 40 victim of fate." - From the song Pirate looks at 40. Can't wait to go see the movie.

![]() | Glenn, I would wait, then, if your child was uncomfortable with those, seriously. Lots of scary images, swordplay and dark stuff that is more suitable for a couple of years older. But then, some folks are in ther twenties and don't like that sort of thing. You and the missus would do best by previewing it but think you'll wind up agreeing. There's some swordplay that is hilarious, many comic situations. And Depp's Sparrow is even a tad drunker than the last one, if that's possible. ML |

| Forte User | Haven't had the chance to see it yet, despite being invited to a special pre-screening early last week. Dangit!!! but I worked at the local mutli-plex the night we did a midnight showing. GEEZE man almighty but it's a popular flick. We sold over 1500 advance tickets by 8pm that night. Sold out 13 of 14 theaters completely. Would have sold the 14th if we could have gotten it setup (we only had three prints of the film, so had to "interlock" or run the film through multiple projectors--such that once you've started it, you can't add that last theater in....). Basically, we had 2100 tickets available and sold them all. That's a LOT of movie-goers hanging around until 3 am! We sold out almost all of our Friday and Saturday showings as well. It's definitely got to have somethign going for it if it's that popular (I remember hearing ROARING applaus after the first midnight showing ended last Thursday/Friday). I like the music all by itself. If they've tied it in with the actors and scenes well, then all the more reason I must see it.....sigh....if only I had the time (two jobs, school, multiple music ensembles, teaching.....sigh....Rich needs a break from himself).
