![]() | PLAYED MY FIRST SOLO EVER!! My wife and I just returned from a party for company employees, which had a jazz combo playing entertainment music. When the trumpet player found out that I played trumpet, he invited me to play with them for a song. He lent me his Olds (I believe he said it was a Menedez), which had a "no-name acrylic mouthpiece. The horn impressed me very much, but I had little time to prepare. I was taught the "blues scale", and off we went. We played "Freddie the Freeloader" by I believe Miles Davis, and for my solo, I just played variations of the scale. I blew a lot of notes, but had a great time playing with a group. And yup, I discovered later, that I played the song with my zipper down. Well, the best thing I can say about being older, is that "what can't get up, can't get out". Have a great weekend everyone. Gary
