A quick question

Out of pure curiosity. Do trumpet players drink a lot? Myself, I am a guitarist, and I have been known to outdrink a veal (is it a veal? You know, young cattle? Is it the right word?Anyhowz, you know what I mean ) Bass player is right beside me, drummer is a bit, but a bit behind... The keyboard player is somewhat more polite... Hehe. What about the trumpet players? Do they drink a lot? I know that guys that play horns, are known as heavy drinkers...

Re: A quick question

Seems reasonable, given artistic aptitudes eh Crunch. Course i'd figure drummers would drink everybody under the table!

I lost my appetites for the drink and smoke sometime ago, but there was a time i was either high.. or i was sure gonna be shortly- :) I couldn't get'a hold of a reasonable clip.. i was either fast as hell, or at a complete stop.

HAAAAAAAA-

I'm glad i've gathered a good pace with some age on me, but i'm really looking forward to the times when we can take our wisdom with us.

Enjoy Bud-

Re: A quick question

do trumpet players drink a lot?
good question. I know of enough that lost their gigs due to "lack of control".
I think many passionate people go through stressful times where alcohol is perceived to be of advantage. Most of the time they catch on BEFORE it is too late.........................
In Germany, one of the audition excerpts for beer tent bands is drinking a Masskrug (1 liter) in one gulp. It does not matter if you have a Bb or C trumpet!

Re: A quick question

I always assumed that beer hall auditions included having to recite all the verses of Der (Die?) Schnitzelbank without missing a fette sau or schnickel fritz.

Re: A quick question

I would say after the perfomance, anything goes.
This is the only time French horn and oboe players are invited along.

I know I don't drink.
I know trumpetters who did cocaine.
I know others who drank bottomlessly. :)

Re: A quick question

Believe me, at the prices charged for beer at Oktoberfest, you have more than covered the investment of the Masskrug!
